OOTD: Not Quite Nautical & Blogger Award 2011

Saturday, June 4, 2011

It's been forever since I posted an OOTD! I just came across these old outfit photos from the end of winter that I forgot to post ><  At first I was trying to go for a nautical inspired look with the blue skirt and striped top...but then it was too cold, so I added the grey cardi......and then I felt too exposed with the mini skirt and heels so I added the tights. The end result - a not very nautical looking outfit -.-
Not Quite Nautical 2

What I'm Wearing:
H&M Grey Cardigan (size S): shop similar here, and here
Forever 21 Asymmetrical Striped Top (size S): shop similar here, and here
Urban Outfitters Kimchi Blue Scallop Skirt (size XS): shop here, similar here
Moda Spana "Xerox" Oxford Booties: shop here, similar here, and here
Not Quite Nautical
Please excuse how blah my hair looks - it's been a year since I've cut my hair in these pictures >.<

~~~~~~~~~~~~* BLOGGER AWARD 2011 *~~~~~~~~~~
I was recently awarded the Blogger Award 2011 by not just one other blogger, but THREE (edit) FOUR different bloggers! Thank you so much ladies for awarding this to me! I'm flattered that you would all choose to pass this award on to my blog ^^ Please check out their blogs - all 4 ladies are relatively new to the blogging world but they all write great content and are super friendly :D
-Very friendly and down to earth. Can be super girly and feminine but enjoys dorky things like video games as well! (Plus her favorite game from the Final Fantasy series is also FF8 = WIN! ^-^)
-Good friends and roommates of each other in real life. They're both really sweet and blog about beauty and fashion related topics. Plus they have very professional looking blogs and take great product photos :D
Priscilla
-Very sweet blogger who writes about beauty, fashion, and everyday life. She posts a lot of food pics - visiting her blog always makes me hungry haha :D
About Me
-Not much to say really...I'm a person of very few words in real life :P I consider myself to be a very carefree and lighthearted person so I generally get along very easily with others. It just takes me awhile to establish a friendship with others in real life because I tend to be a bit shy :)
Rules:
1) Make a post containing:
• Say thank you to someone who give you this award
• Write about someone who give you this award
• Write about yourself
• There's a banner award and code
• Give this award to your 9 blogger-friends (blogends)
• Don't forget to leave a messages in their chatbox
2) Use this banner award on your blog sidebar, without change banner's code.
It's hard to believe that I've already been blogging for more than a year now. Over the course of this time I've come across a lot of amazing blogs. I'd like to pass this award onto the following 9 ladies because they all write exceptionally enjoyable posts. (Alphabetically listed by blog name to avoid any assumptions of preference.)
  5. Oh rinny - thank you so much! I'm very honored that I'm among the bunch ^^
    I love that UO skirt btw! The Kimchi brand (korean I'm guessing with the oh-so-subtle name xD) always strikes me as ADORABLE but UO seems so overpriced to me most of the time :P It must be DC prices or something....
  7.  Thank you so much Emi! And you're very welcome ^^
    Ahh you must get so hot wearing tights in the summer though, especially if the weather is humid >< I think I'm going to start doing what some girls do and wear hot pants underneath shorter skirts :D
  8.  Thank you! I love the scallop hem as well :D
  9. Hehe yeah it took me a long time to figure out what to get because a lot of the clothing on there didn't seem like it was worth the high price tags. I ended up getting accessories instead :P I'll post soon!
    And thank you! Don't let the picture fool you though - all the black on the bottom really helps to give off the illusion of longer legs :D
  11.  Thank you Blair!
    Yeah you definitely need a good spot with enough natural lighting. Unfortunately that spot in my building also happens to be right at the front door so I'm always worried that one of my neighbors will walk in on me lol. I'm not that great at photography so I don't have many tips, but I have found that using the manual settings and setting your own exposure and iso levels helped a bit :)
    cute outfit~ it looks like something i would usually wear on school days ^^ i know how you feel about feeling exposed without tights, i'm still wearing tights or knee high socks even when it's summer =/ but it rains most of the time here so maybe i can get away with it? lol
  56. Thank you so much! Lol you know how guys are - they don't know anything about fashion or trends haha :D
    ReplyDelete
  59. Aww thank you so much Joey! ^_^
    ReplyDelete
  60. Aww thank you so much Tiffo! Hehe I love the skirt as well, which is surprising because I wasn't so sure of the scallop hem at first :P
    And I couldn't agree with you more! It's def 1000x easier to be outgoing when you're doing it behind a computer screen :)
    ReplyDelete
  61. Aww thank you Mimi! You are just as equally sweet though hehe :)
    ReplyDelete
  63. Aww thank you so much! ^__^
    ReplyDelete
  64. Haha thank you Jo! I think if I wore just the skirt and top alone during warmer months, it would def look more nautical themed ^^ Ooo yeah this is how I usually dress when I'm going out the weekends; a skirt this short isn't exactly work appropriate haha :D
    Yeahhh I feel terrible for not posting as often lately; recently I've been coming home and just wanting to sit around and do nothing. But I see you haven't been as active either, so I guess that makes two of us hehe :)
    And you're very welcome! A great blog deserves some recognition :D
    ReplyDelete
  65. lol thank you Nani! <3 And you're very welcome - you def deserve it! ^_^
    You should be happy with the way you look Nani! I think you are already beautiful as you are :) Personally, I WISH I had more meat on me so my body is more curvy like a woman's should be ><
    ReplyDelete
  66. Thank you!  haha don't let the picture deceive you - mini skirts and heels definitely help to give off the illusion of more height :D
    ReplyDelete
  67. Aw thank you so much for you comment Mei! Haha yeah you're right - keeping yourself warm definitely should come before looking good ^^
    ReplyDelete
