Review: Missha M Signature Real Complete BB Cream #21

Today I'm going to be reviewing Missha's M Signature Real Complete BB Cream SPF25 PA++ (what a mouthful!). I purchased this bb cream in conjunction with their best seller M Perfect Cover bb cream, which I have already reviewed here.

ABOUT THE PRODUCT

The Signature Real Complete bb cream is MSRP $45.99 for 45g of product. Compared to most bb creams, this is actually on the very pricey end, but good deals can usually be found online. The bb cream boasts whitening, antiaging, and spf benefits and is available in 3 shades: #13 - Light Milk Beige, #21 - Light Pink Beige, and #23 - Natural Yellow Beige.

The bb cream comes in an elegant, acrylic tube container with a pump dispenser, making this very sanitary to use. The packaging design is a bit wasteful however, because there will be a lot of product still left on the inside of the tube even when no more product can be dispensed through the pump. The hard acrylic packaging probably makes depotting the rest of the bb cream a near impossible task (unless you want to saw the container in half).

The bb cream claims to provide maximum coverage without feeling heavy on the skin. It is also supposed to restore moisture and regenerate skin through the use of lipids, amino acids, peptide complexes, and soothing gingko water.

This bb cream claims to be free of parabens and mineral oil and contains a number of natural ingredients. With extended use, it is supposed to reduce the signs of aging and sunspots.

SWATCHES & COVERAGE

I purchased this in #21 - Light Pink Beige, and it is the same color as my Perfect Cover bb cream in #21 - a beige color with a bit of a pink overtone, just as the name implies.

Initially, the color is a bit warmer than my own skintone, but after allowing it to oxidize, the color is a good match for me. Some girls have said this  bb cream starts to look gray or ashy on them, but I personally haven't experienced this.

The Signature Real Complete bb cream provides a sheer to light coverage and does a good job of  brightening the skin and camouflaging dark spots. In the Before/After picture below, I applied the bb cream on a burn scar on my arm so you can see the coverage it provides.

(If you're wondering how I got it, I wasn't careful when baking and burned the inside of my wrist when removing the tray from the oven) =_=

MY THOUGHTS

Unlike the Perfect Cover, the texture of the Signature Real is more runny, so it makes application much easier since it blends out effortlessly. The runnier formula also makes the bb cream feel more lightweight on the skin, which I love because heavy foundations tend to dry out my skin. Also, unlike the Perfect Cover, my skin seems to agree with the ingredients of this bb cream more, as it doesn't cause me to develop cystic acne or break out after using it.

Like most of Missha's face products, this bb cream also has the same powdery scent (think baby diapers), although it is not as strong as the Perfect Cover.

To sum it up, I really like that the formula of this bb cream is lightweight, easy to blend, long lasting, and friendly towards those with sensitive skin. I like the light coverage and brightening effect it provides, and it is a bit more moisturizing than some of my other bb creams. For oil control, this isn't the best, as I did start to see some shine in my T-zone by midday, even though I have very dry skin.

PROS:
  • Brightening effect
  • Feels lightweight on the skin
  • Light coverage (if that is what you prefer)
  • Long lasting on skin
  • Doesn't dry out my skin
  • Good for those with sensitive skin types
  • Free of parabens and mineral oil
  • Contains many natural ingredients
CONS:
  • Bit pricier than most bb creams
  • Light coverage (if you prefer more coverage)
  • Acrylic container wastes a lot of product when you can't pump anymore out because you can't depot it
  • Not good for oil control

Overall....I think I would give the Signature Real Complete bb cream a rating of 3/5 because I like the runnier formulation, lightweight texture, and brightening effect. I am subtracting two points for the acrylic container, lack of oil control, price, and because I would have liked a bb cream with more coverage.

Have you tried this bb cream? What about the Perfect Cover? Which do you prefer?

  1. I've seen a lot of mixed reviews on this cream...I personally am a fan of heavy coverage, but I do agree that it gets tricky to blend sometimes! Thanks for the review~

  2. I don't like the packaging either. It's going to be pretty hard (and messy) to saw it apart :p haha I like the runny formula as well. Is it similar to the other Missha bb cream you tried? I have the other one too :)

  6. Never tried this BB cream :)

I think the picture of the bb cream website is slightly exaggerated :o
I guess the idea of parabene free is nice!
Thanks for the info & review ^^

i still think M signature BB cream provides enough coverage although it seems a lot sheere than the perfect cover one.
i agree with you on the oil control level of this product. i prefer using this during colder months.

thanks for your in-depth review, Rinny. :)

  12. Aesthetically the packaging is so sophisticated and pretty, but yeah does seem a teeny bit wasteful. Lol, I've sawed tubes in half before - totally stingy person here!

Thanks for the review! I want to try the Missha brand since it seems so prolific. I've got two small samples of this sitting on my table so I should try it out~

Hope you have a great day ^^

Awesome review! Unfortunately, I'm one of those folks whose face turns a little gray when I wear this. I'm glad it worked a little better for you though!

Oooh I burn myself all the time when I bake! =( It looks like the BB cream does a good job brightening your burn mark!

  17. I've been wanting to try BB creams but because they don't really control oil well....I've had to put the brakes on trying it.  I hate those products with pumps that you cannot screw off the top...so much product goes to waste!  good for them...bad for us!

  19. For an Asian product, I feel like 25 SPF isn't that much. I'm used at least thirties and forties. I think this product looks lovely but I'll have to pass.

  20. I was debating on getting this but see the cons you reviewed, not sure anymore :((( i need a lot of coverage and i have a really oily complexion (it disgusts me lol). but it's such a top seller here D:

Great review!! I have not tried this BB Cream but I would. Wondering if it's not good for oil control then it sounds like it would work for me since I don't have oily skin. Thanks for posting!!

  24. Great review - this really answered a lot of my own questions about the product. A bit hesitant after you mentioned the "oily T-zone" even for a gal with "dry skin." I just despise how shiny my face gets throughout the day! Thanks for the heads-up!

  28. I've been using Perfect Cover now for about.. 6 months and I'm doing fine (though I used several BB creams sometimes for comparison), but still I like Missha.
I've heard about the (+) points on signature and intend to try it in the future.
I was expecting to see your FOTD with this missha ^^

  29. I haven't tried this one but I have heard good things about it. I'm willing to spend the extra buck on bb cream if it's a good one, though I don't think i've spent that much before, my most pricey was probably ElishaCoy at 30$

  30. Thank you so much for this review!!  I'm putting this one on my wish list xD

  31. hi rinny how are yoU, ?I wanna as if what will be the compatible missha powder for M signature bb cream and M perfect cover. more powers to you

    ReplyDelete
  32. Hi Centinap! Thanks for reading and visiting :)

I took a look at Missha's US shopping site and it looks like they only have 1 face powder - the M Signature Radiance Two Way pact. It looks like a generic Missha product though. I've never tried any of Missha's powders, so I'm sorry I can't be of more help!

    ReplyDelete
  33. P.S. It looks like the Korean Missha site has many more face powders available, so depending on which country you live in, you may have a bigger selection to choose from!

    ReplyDelete
  34. You're welcome Jiawa! I hope it works well for you too :D

    ReplyDelete
  35. Missha always has sales and deals on their site, so if you're willing to wait, chances are you won't have to pay full price. I think I got this for like 40% off when they were having a sale or something :)

    ReplyDelete
  36. Hi Noniq! I'm glad to hear that the Perfect Cover is working well for you! I actually love the coverage of the Perfect Cover but unfortunately the high mineral oil content doesn't sit too well with my skin and causes me to break out when I use it. I really hoped that it would be a winner for me :(

Sorry I wasn't able to post a full FOTD with this review! It would have made the review more helpful I think, so I will try to update the post soon. Thanks for the suggestion! :)

  37. Thanks Penelope! Glad you enjoyed the review :)

    ReplyDelete
  38. Yeah it seems like Missha is a hit or miss for a lot of ppl :)

    ReplyDelete
  39. Thanks Nancy! Glad you found it helpful! Yeah this bb cream doesn't do much for oil control. Just make sure you keep oil blotting sheets handy I guess!

    ReplyDelete
  40. You're welcome Jayme! Glad to be of help and I'm glad you enjoyed the post!

    ReplyDelete
  41. This one is definitely better suited for those with sensitive skin types, so you might have more luck with this one too Cominica. I like the coverage of Perfect Cover, but that one made me break out sometimes too ><

    ReplyDelete
  42. Yeah if you need more coverage, the Perfect Cover is probably a better option, as long as it works with your skintype. I love the coverage of Perfect Cover but unfortunately it causes me to break out ><

    ReplyDelete
  43. You're welcome Sugar! Haha well different ppl prefer different things; if foundations work for you, no reason to change it up :)

    ReplyDelete
  44. Yeah I haven't come across a bb cream that's good at controlling oil either. But for me oil control isn't such a big deal since I have dry skin, so I'm willing to settle :)

    ReplyDelete
  45. Thanks Eva! Aww sorry to hear the color match wasn't so good for you. Hopefully you have more luck with other bb creams :)

And yes, it definitely helps to brighten and slightly camouflage the mark!

    ReplyDelete
  46. If you like a lighter coverage sometimes, you'll really like this one Junella. This one is very lightweight compared to the Perfect Cover :)

    ReplyDelete
  47. Thanks you TulipLove! Hope you had a great weekend :)

Haha if I can persuade my bf to saw it in half for me, I'm definitely going to depot the rest so it doesn't go to waste! And I'm glad you enjoyed the review - I hope the samples you received work out for you ^^

  48. Glad to hear you've had a good experience with Missha Bebe! :D

  49. Hi Kerker! So sorry I'm replying back so late! I'm still getting caught up with comments and blog visits ><

Thank you again for following my blog! I'm glad that you found the post helpful and I hope the Signature Real bb cream works out for you. If you like the Perfect Cover, your skin should be just fine with the Signature Real :)

  50. Thank you Lucy for reading! :)

  51. This is the one I use on a day-to-day basis, except in #23 (which I think is a tad dark for me, but #21 would definitely be much too light). I don't mind that it's not really full coverage, but it does get a little oily around my T-zone after a few hours. Still, I've tried a few other foundations and I still always go back to this BB cream, it does the job for me - I just wish it matched my skintone a little better.

    ReplyDelete
  52. You're welcome Amy! Yeah you have a good point - heavier foundations are definitely harder to blend in. I guess you gotta make compromises sometimes :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. The color is the same, but that's pretty much where the similarities end :P

The PC has more coverage, is thicker, and doesn't settle well with my skin.
The SRC gives less coverage, is more lightweight, and doesn't irritate my skin.

They're pretty much polar opposites. I'm planning on doing a more thorough compartive review soon! :)

    ReplyDelete
  54. Aww yeah I know what you mean - buying foundations/bbcreams online are always tricky because shade selection can be risky. luckily I've gotten pretty close matches with all the ones I've bought so far!

Haha I think I was making dinner at the time - baked ziti, I think. It's been months since I got the burn, but the scar is still there ><

    ReplyDelete
  55. Haha maybe, maybe not. I've noticed that bb creams are usually a lot cheaper on Ebay too. I've bought a few skinfood ones from Ebay and they look like the real deal, so not all the cheap bb creams are necessarily fake :P

If you want to get this from Missha's site, wait until they have a sale or promo - it's usually much cheaper then!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Haha I think so too! They probably photoshop the after results for all we know lol

    ReplyDelete
  57. Thanks for reading Lena! And I agree 100% with everything you said! You pretty much summed up my thoughts in just a few words :D

    ReplyDelete
  58. haha let me know if you ever find out which one it is! I don't hear too much about Missha's other bb creams besides the Perfect Cover, which seems to be their most popular.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Aww being between shades is always the toughest...have you tried mixing #21 and 23? You might get a better color match. Or you could always apply a lighter powder on top to lighten the color and also control oil as well :)

    ReplyDelete
  60. This looks and sounds good I haven't dabbled into BB creams much at all, i don't like the pink toned ones although they match my face quite nicely the color difference from my neck can be scary! I probably will get a more yellow toned one. I definitely need to try one of Missha's creams out next time! Thanks for reviewing! :)

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yeah I've noticed that too - a lot of the bb creams tend to look more pink toned, especially the lighter shades. It's not often I see more yellow toned bb creams, but I've noticed that the darker shades usually lean more on the yellow side. :)
